STICKS & STONES
This is the trailer for Chase Wilson Education's "Sticks & Stones," a film about the dangers of cyber bullying. In the movie, Brandon DeMarco is an average High School student whose life is forever altered as a result of cyber bullying and harassment. Watch his story >
Sticks & Stones is an unflinching look into the complex world of the modern American teenager – depicting many of the challenging social issues they face such as peer pressure / conflict, hate speech, underage drinking, and the consequences of depression and social exclusion.
But above all else, “Sticks & Stones” is a story about cyberbullying.
The Story:
Brandon DeMarco is just an average teenager in a typical American High School. Lindsay Boone is one of the most popular girls in the school, and when she needs help in one of her classes she turns to Brandon. They start talking regularly online – quickly becoming secret friends and maybe something more. But after a very public confrontation with Lindsay's boyfriend Corey, Brandon immediately becomes an easy target for relentless harassment. Embarrassing pictures and vicious rumors spread via cell phone and computer engulf him at school and in his home. As Brandon struggles to defend himself against a faceless and vindictive enemy he sees only one way to make it all stop – confronting Lindsay.
Its Impact:
Sticks & Stones has been prominently featured at the Crimes Against Children Conference in Dallas, TX – an event attended annually by well over 3,000 federal law enforcement and educational experts from all over the world.
It has been shown to students in over 20 states across the U.S. and is currently being used on five other continents and in at least a dozen other countries including Canada, Australia, Argentina, Egypt and the United Kingdom.
The project has also been featured on multiple news programs shown on PBS, NBC, CBS, and FOX News.
